S-125 Neva supplied by Poland helped shoot down over 120 aerial targets over Ukraine.

A Polish-modified S-125 Newa SC air defense system has enabled a Ukrainian crew to destroy more than 120 enemy aerial targets, including drones and missiles. In total, the crew has nearly 200 downed objects on record, ranging from reconnaissance and strike UAVs to cruise missiles.

The markings included 113 drones and 8 missiles, though the system is not capable of intercepting ballistic missiles.

In total, the unit claims nearly 200 destroyed objects, from reconnaissance and strike UAVs to cruise missiles. “Sometimes we brought down several Shaheds at once. At one point, shooting down multiple targets per shift became almost routine,” said Igor, one of the operators.

The S-125 Newa SC

The Newa SC is a Polish modernization of the Soviet-era S-125 system, designed in the 1960s to engage low- to medium-altitude aerial targets at ranges of 3.5–25 km and altitudes of 20–18,000 meters.

Modernization began in the 1990s: launchers were mounted on T-55 tank chassis, radars on MAZ trucks, and digital fire-control systems were introduced. These changes gave the Newa SC much greater mobility and effectiveness against modern aerial threats.
