Taiwan Eyes Cooperation with Poland in Ukraine’s Reconstruction

Taiwan is looking to strengthen its collaboration with Poland to support the reconstruction of Ukraine, leveraging Poland’s strategic position as a gateway to the EU and Ukraine, according to Cynthia Kiang, Taiwan’s Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs. The statement was made during the Rebuild Ukraine trade fair in Warsaw.

Deputy Minister of Development and Technology of Poland, Michał Jaros, emphasized that partnerships with Taiwan represent a significant opportunity for Polish companies to participate in rebuilding Ukraine.

Strong Presence of Taiwanese Companies

This year’s Rebuild Ukraine fair features 31 Taiwanese companies, double the number from last year. These companies showcase expertise across various sectors, including renewable energy, construction, engineering, ICT, machinery, and small-grid energy solutions. Kiang highlighted that Taiwan is known for its ICT technologies and expressed interest in collaborating with Polish firms to support Ukraine’s reconstruction.

Taiwanese exhibitors include:

  • ASUSTek Computer — computer hardware and AIoT solutions

  • MICROIP — chip design and AI-to-silicon systems

  • Creative Sensor — thermal imaging cameras

  • TECO Electric & Machinery — energy-efficient drives and green energy solutions

  • FREE Bionics — exoskeletons for rehabilitation and mobility

  • OSCAR E.D.M. — advanced automation and precision metalworking

Opportunities for Polish Firms

Jaros highlighted that Polish companies can contribute to Ukraine’s reconstruction in areas such as construction, energy (including distributed energy systems), infrastructure, new technologies, and medical products, including prosthetics.

He also stressed that success depends not only on securing contracts but also on Ukraine implementing reforms that improve the business and investment climate.

Poland as a Gateway and Hub

“Poland has been a humanitarian and military hub from day one, and now it aims to serve as a hub for Ukraine’s reconstruction,” Jaros said. The trade fair brings together companies and regions from around the world, including California, Taiwan, and Japan.

According to Jaros, the event provides Polish firms with the opportunity to not only invest in Ukraine and secure contracts, but also to collaborate with international partners to introduce advanced technologies into the Ukrainian market.

Joint projects and investments with partners from Taiwan and Japan, leveraging their cutting-edge technologies, were identified as a major opportunity for Polish businesses to strengthen their regional and international presence.
